Sword & Buckler: Memory Card Game & Spanish Video Subs

Published 3 months ago • 2 min read

A Great Gift

Hello sword & buckler fans.

The best gift I got for Christmas came from my fellow fencer Christina, who gave me a unique I.33 sword & buckler memory card game which she had created herself from photos, illustrations and the manuscript miniatures. I was thrilled and felt privileged to receive on of only three existing sets.

I have played it repeatedly, and it is actually quite challenging. The various depictions of half-shield alone are not easy to distinguish from one another. Super fun game for geeks, and also for I.33 beginners who can learn the various postures and their names – although I have to say that my wife still prefers to stick with descriptions such as “guy with read hose and funny hat, blade pointing up”!

Sword & Buckler Video Subs

A while ago, my patron and fellow swordsman Stefan von Bischoffshausen from Chile suggested adding Spanish subtitles to the videos of our I.33 sword & buckler online course. He also kindly offered to give a helping hand with proofreading.

Cornelius and myself think that this is a brilliant idea, and with the help of AI and Stefan, English and Spanish subs will gradually be added. Those of you who have already purchased the course may have already noticed. It is going to take a while before the task is completed but once it is done you will be the first to know.

Of course we have also discussed adding subs for even more languages, and I have already reached out to friends, asking for help with proofreading and correcting French and Chinese subtitles. The platform allows adding up to eleven sets of subs per video. Cornelius and I are determined to crush language barriers, and expand our audiences to promote buckler-fighting worldwide.

You have to be kind to your friends!

Recently, a friend contacted me, asking whether it would be possible to prolong the recent special offer for the I.33 online course, as he had missed the campaign. Cornelius and myself did not hesitate to affirm his request, and what is more, we decided to extend this offer, and make it available to all of you.

So starting today, you have the opportunity to get the course with a massive 40% discount until the next Dimicator newsletter comes out in a week’s time on February 7.

So if you have missed previous campaigns, here is your chance to save $200. Go take a look!

Note that owners of this foundational first course will get the best offer when the follow-up course comes out later this year.

You can watch free previews, and see the complete curriculum consisting of more than 60 videos here. Sword & buckler rules!

So, that's it for today. Take care, and keep your blade well-honed.

AI, Combat Training & Martial Dress Accessories How to get from A to B with AI? Hello fellow history geeks and martial artists. This newsletter's title sounds somewhat confusing, doesn't it? But when you read on, it will all make sense. Let us start with an image that will feature in my up-coming book. I created the original version of the above illustration last year. It depicts hunter-gatherers sneaking up on reindeer in northern Germany about 10,000 years ago. However, I needed to expand...

My pencil drawing of a Vendel period warrior A Mystical Hero and a Dragon Hello Vendel fans and dragon slayers As you may know, I am busy writing my long-awaited book. For one of its paragraphs I re-read the famous dragon slayer tales of Sigurd/Siegfried, and Beowulf armed with their mystical swords Gram/Balmung and Naegling – which prompted the making of a respective illustration. 2024 version of a 1999 illustration of mine If you want to see my Beowulf illustration, and learn more about its...

A Home for a Sword The scabbard Christina made Hello sword enthusiasts. A good sword needs an appropriate scabbard. My friend and fellow buckler fighter Christina had been aware of that for a long time. Last year she approached me and asked if I was willing to supervise her work if she would make scabbards for her training swords. I said I would. So today I will present to you one of the two scabbards she made. I think she did a great job. I have compiled some photos of details for you in a...
